Jan Radcliff

Jan first performed at the Purple Rose Theatre in the 1991-92 season in the world premiere production of Ties That Bind by Michigan playwright, Kitty Dubin. She returned to the PRTC last year to play Lois in Carey Crim's Some Couples May..., and will be playing Ethel in this summer's production of On Golden Pond. In the 20 years since her first appearance at the PRTC, she has logged countless hours as an on-camera corporate and commercial spokesperson & voice-over talent as well as appearing onstage at a number of Michigan theatres including The Attic, Performance Network, Jewish Ensemble Theatre, and Tipping Point Theatre. A founding member of the now-defunct Heartlande Theatre Company (HTC), Jan helped produce hundreds of original short pieces as part of HTC's Play-By-Play marathon and shares the Rose's commitment to the development of new works for the stage. She was also fortunate to have studied with the late, legendary actress and teacher, Uta Hagen, over the course of the ten summer workshops Ms. Hagen taught in Detroit and counts this experience as one of the most influential in her life as an artist. Jan appreciates the sense of ensemble here at the PRTC and the level of craft that can be achieved by actors who share a similar way of working. Outside of theatre, her passions include her two children, Kate and Jim, and a love of lifelong learning.
