Casey Granton, Development Director, brought a love of American theatre from Eugene O’Neil to Mel Brooks and a life-long involvement in the arts with her to the Purple Rose. After receiving her Master of Fine Arts degree, she was elected to The Common Ground of the Arts, the first federally funded organization of visual artists in the US, and began to teach, first painting and design, then humanities at Wayne State University. She went on to State Government as a grantsmaker for the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs working in education, arts programming, capital projects, and operational support. Moving to the other side of the “philanthropic table’” she became Director of Development for the Detroit Zoological Society and then Director of Development for the Henry Ford Estate. As luck would have it, she has two perfect daughters and two perfect grandsons upon whom she dotes.
