Does The Purple Rose offer gift certificates?
Yes! Our gift certificates are good for one theatre season, from September through August, and come in three denominations ($25, $33, and $38) to correspond to our ticket prices. Gift certificates are only available through our box office. We recommend purchasing gift certificates in the fall or for the holidays to allow the recipient ample time to use them before they expire. [top]

Does the theatre have accessible seating and listening devices?
Yes!  Please request handicap accessible seating when you make a ticket reservation with the Box Office.  We can accomodate wheelchairs, scooters, and various other mobility assistance devices.  Upon request, assistive listening devices for the hard-of-hearing are loaned from the Box Office with the deposit of a Driver's License.

What is the dress code at the theatre?
We have no specific dress code. Our guests wear anything from down-home denim to fancy finery, but most of our patrons choose business casual attire. [top]

How do I request a donation?
Because we are a nonprofit, we do not make monetary donations. We are delighted to support the nonprofit and business community with donations of gift certificates for theatre tickets. A letter of request is required to receive a donation; since we do not accept requests by email at this time, please mail a request on organization or company letterhead to:

The Purple Rose Theatre Company
Attn: Alan Ribant, Managing Director
137 Park Street
Chelsea, MI 48118

Include the following information in your letter or we will not be able to process your request:

Supporting materials are not necessary. Please allow two weeks to one month for processing: donations are processed on a regular basis and gift certificates are mailed about two weeks prior to event dates. Gift certificates are good for one theatre season, September through August, so please keep this in mind when making your request. Requests addressed to Mr. Daniels will not be received by PRTC staff for donation processing: we will not be able to confirm receipt nor will we know the outcome of these requests.[top]

What volunteer opportunities does The PRTC offer?
We can always use courteous, friendly ushers! Call our box office at (734) 433-ROSE (7673) to sign up for a performance. No ongoing commitment is required; just spend a little extra time helping us out and get to see the show for free. [top]

Can I rent the theatre for my wedding/event?
We regret that our performance space is not available for outside use at any time, as it is in constant use by The PRTC. We offer special arrangements for groups from twelve to 168; see our Corporate Events page for more information. [top]

What is a monologue?
A monologue Offsite Link is a dramatic soliloquy, or form of discourse in which a character talks to himself or herself or reveals his or her thoughts without addressing a listener. Monologues, which must be memorized, are a standard audition requirement and may be required as advance preparation for some classes. Comic monologues are intended to be humorous, and contemporary monologues must have been published within the last thirty years. There is a restriction on the length of a monologue for auditioning, included in the announcement; please follow it exactly! Select your monologue from a play, novel, movie or other published work which is not written by you or someone you know. [top]
