The
Spring Comedy Festival is a collection of eight short original
plays centered around a theme of “Life: Liberty and the
Pursuit of Lust!”
Jeff Daniels headed the team of local writers to create skits that
offer comedy and something for everyone.
Jeff Daniels’ “Pedro’s Pasta” involves a couple whose regular meetings began when they fell in love while he was under the table one night.
In “Righting the Constitution” by Anthony Caselli, the guardians of The Bill of Rights discover a typo that threatens to shake the foundations of our country.
“Foul
Play” by Jeffrey Herman is a wild takeoff on old film noir
detective movies, with a twist.
“A Couple of New Women Sittin’ Around Talking” is Jeff Daniels’ portrayal of a very special support group, which begins with stereotypical male-bashing and ends in surprise.
“Four Extremely Attractive Women Sitting Around
Fantasizing About Rich
Orloff”
by Rich Orloff is the author’s own fantasy, very well described
by the title.
Dennis E. North’s “The Date”, an insightful look at the sexual games we play, is about a morose man outside a dance club who meets an angel clad in a most unusual disguise.
“Rosemary and Julian”, also by Jeff Daniels,
takes place
on a movie set on which two stars are preparing to
shoot a nude love scene.
“2 Cats in the Yard,” penned, performed and sung by Suzi Regan, is a bluesy love story involving a folk singer and a blue collar man; he has mistaken her for the radio, and she’s struggling with her self-image, caught between art and life.
The comedy crew included Joseph Albright, Tamara Evans, Randall Godwin, Terry Heck, Janet Maylie, Wayne David Parker, Suzi Regan, and John Seibert.
