Necessities,
a new drama by Velina Hasu Houston, directed by Mary Bremer, deals
with a successful film producer's quest for self-fulfillment in her
personal life.
Unable
to conceive a child and rejected by adoption agencies, Zelda Kelly
turns to an alternative solution: arranging for a private adoption
through a newspaper ad. Her appointments with young mothers willing
to give up their babies soon proves troubling to Zelda and her husband,
Danny. These problems force the Kellys to examine what is truly missing
in their lives.
The
cast of Necessities featured Marilyn Mays as Zelda Kelly
and Wayne David Parker as her husband, Danny. John Lepard played
Zelda's personal assistant and Sandra Marquez is Zelda's best friend,
Elizabeth. The three young women that Zelda interviews about potential
private adoptions were played by Cheri Johnson, Elizabeth Keiser
and Karen Kron. Tim Pickering completed the cast as an irate boyfriend
of one of the young women.
