Simple. Fun. Real.
Our Development Director, Katie Frye Hammond, continues to surprise us all! We just learned that she writes a weekly blog for Lenawee County’s Daily Telegram, makes regular appearances on an Adrian-based radio show, and is an active golfer! Here she is playing golf in the Dexter-Chelsea Golf Outing this week with artistic director Guy Sanville, PRTC founder Jeff Daniels and PRTC Board Chair, Philip Curtis.
Here’s one of Katie’s recent blog posts, and you can follow her blog here.
STAY FROSTY
I sat in my first team meeting at my newly acquired job and quickly found myself picking up on, and learning, popular words and phrases used by my fellow theatre colleagues.
Brilliant. This is used often and I have to say I quite enjoy it. I caught onto it quickly (I’m smart like that). However, “Stay Frosty”, I have to say, was a new one for me. Co-workers laughed as I made note of the phrase on my portfolio pad. I was unfamiliar with this simple, yet fun, expression.
Wikipedia (my go to source) doesn’t document any form of the definition of “Stay Frosty” (unless I missed it). Avenues like englishforums.com and urbandictionaries.com define the phrase as: “A valediction which has come to mean ‘be cool,’ but which more properly understood is an admonishment to stay alert and on one’s toes.” It can also be defined as “A manner of telling someone goodbye” or “To remain focused by not letting your emotions overcome you.”
With that, a quick little blog to say StAy FrOsTy this weekend and listen to what those around you are saying. You’re never too old to learn and broaden your horizons.
As always…keeping it simple, fun and real!
