The Purple Rose has spent the past two decades developing a unique approach to the work we do, and the process we use to create the productions on our stage is constantly evolving. We offer a variety of exciting ways to learn more about what we do and how we do it.
THEATRE CLASSES
A year-round roster of intensive skill-building classes is taught by the working professionals in our company. We believe that all theatre practitioners learn from one another and welcome students of every skill level.
APPRENTICE PROGRAM
A Purple Rose apprenticeship is an intense, hands-on opportunity to gain practical professional experience in all areas of production. Apprentices spend an entire season working full-time alongside our directors, designers, stage managers, actors and administrators.
READINGS
This series offers an inside glimpse of the process of working on new plays. Concert readings of scripts in development offer an early look at plays being considered for full production. Lecture topics range from writing workshops to panel discussions with designers and much more.
TOURS & POST-SHOW DISCUSSIONS
Free backstage tours of the theatre provide learning opportunities for groups of all ages. Post-performance Q & A sessions – or talkbacks – are offered after select performances and can also be arranged upon request.
