Sunday, October 5 – Saturday, October 11, 2014
$400.00; Sunday 1pm-8pm, Monday and Tuesday 6pm-11pm, Saturday 10am-12:30pm (No class Wednesday-Friday)
Limit: 14 writers
Must be 18 years or older to participate.

Working with Purple Rose Artistic Director Guy Sanville (director of over 35 professional world premieres), PRTC Literary Manager and Resident Artist Michelle Mountain, several seasoned professional (AEA) actors and produced playwrights including PRTC Resident Artists Carey Crim (Conviction, Wake, Some Couples May…) and David MacGregor (Vino Veritas, Gravity, Consider the Oyster), participants will learn basic principles of playwriting including dramatic elements; structure, the differences between tragedy and comedy, character development, writing for actors, story and plot. Each participant will write a short (10 minute) one-act play during class that will be presented and discussed at a public reading. Beginners welcome.

Discover new approaches to scene work and character development.
Continue your self-discovery as an artist as you build your ability and vocabulary for further advanced study. Our most selective and rigorous class includes physical training, monologue work, and extensive scene study. Class work will also include theatre exercises, coaching from the instructors, readings and discussions. Two to four hours per week of outside rehearsal time with your partner(s) will be required. Participants must come prepared with a memorized one-minute monologue. Beginners welcome.



Saturday – Monday, February 21 – 23, 2015

Are you serious about getting an acting job? Are you ready to buckle down and get to work? This class features intensive, individualized work on monologues, cold readings, mock-auditions and film and commercial audition techniques. Get ready for audition season! Each student will leave with two audition-ready contrasting monologues. Participants must come with two memorized one-minute contrasting monologues. Beginners welcome.



Mondays, March 16 – April 13, 2015
$325.00; 7-11pm

Limit: 14 students
Must be 18 years or older to participate.

Journey into the heart of Shakespeare. Explore how to approach the text, how to find the truth by becoming and remaining present, how to open up to the clues inherent in the text and finally to apply the fundamental principals of acting to these classic monologues and scenes. This class will give you the tools to approach Shakespeare with confidence, adventure, honesty, and joy. Some outside work may be required. You must have a memorized Shakespearean monologue for the first class session. Beginners welcome.



Friday – Sunday, April 17 – 19, 2015
$300.00; Friday 7-11pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 11am-3pm

Limit: 14 students
Must be 18 years or older to participate.

Spend three days of intensive study in acting techniques used by working professionals. Features physical warm-ups, acting exercises, monologue work, and a Q&A about the industry. Lunch is provided on Saturday. Students must come prepared with a memorized one-minute contemporary comedic monologue from a published play. A great class for actors to get a taste of the acting principles that guide Purple Rose artists in their work! Beginners welcome.



Mondays – Thursdays, July 13 – 23, 2015
$425.00; Mondays/Tuesdays/Thursdays- 10am-2pm; Wednesdays- 9am-12pm
Instructors: Michelle Mountain and Lauren Knox
For students entering 8th-12th grade in fall of 2015.
Limit: 16 students

Experience professional approaches to acting used by Purple Rose artists. Features voice and movement work, audition techniques, monologue, scene work, and acting for film. Students must come to class with a completely memorized one-minute monologue from a published play. Beginners welcome.

Class schedule and instructors are subject to change. Full refunds will be given for any class canceled.

Full refunds will be given for cancellation of enrollment if notice is received at least five business days before the class begins. No refunds will be given for late cancellations or no-shows for any class.
