Danna Segrest

Danna Segrest has been designing properties her whole life, starting with the front porch productions she put on for her grandparents. After high school (designing, stage managing, and acting in the 8 shows offered at South Lyon High), she was off to Michigan State University Veterinary Medicine program with the goal of putting on dolphin shows. Danna soon realized that marine vets see the animals mostly when they are sick and switched to Communications and Theatre for a Bachelor of Science double degree. From the beginning of The Purple Rose Theatre Company, she focused on the “things” of helping other directors and designers put on our productions. “Properties Designer” became an official title on the 2nd production of Escanaba in the Moonlight. Danna was given the title of “Resident Properties Designer” in 2000. Danna Segrest has lovingly designed properties for over 125 of the Purple Rose productions.
