Janet Ehrlich Colson is a Detroit area actor and playwright. A member of the Matrix Theatre Detroit Playback troupe and Matrix Teaching Artist, her acting credits include Gidion’s Knot at Ixion Theatre (Best Actress Thespie, Lansing State Journal; Best Actress Pulsar, Lansing City Pulse), Indecent at Peppermint Creek Theatre Company (Best Acting Ensemble Thespie), Women of Lockerbie (Best Acting Ensemble Barney) and Boy Gets Girl at Riverwalk Theatre (Best Lead Actress Barney). Directing credits include The Diary of Anne Frank and Buried Child at Riverwalk Theatre, Hate Mail with Generations Theatre Company, The Wiz at Everett High School, and Cost of Living with Peppermint Creek Theatre Company. Television and film credits include Days of Our Lives, Harlan VII (Detroit Lives! Nokia), and The Funeral Guest (Ahptic Productions). Produced plays include Free Cat Thursday at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts 10- Minute Play Festival, and Snails at Lansing Community College as part of the International Climate Change Theatre Action. Her plays have been published in ScribMag, The Champagne Room, and Fleas on the Dog online magazine, where she is Drama Editor Emeritus. Janet has a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College. Currently, she teaches theatre and writing at Jackson College and in their Correctional Education Program.
