Paul Stroili is a playwright, actor and director. His latest play: There’s No Bad Ravioli will be the closing show of The Purple Rose 2026/27 season, playing in the summer of 2027. Two of his previous plays, A Jukebox for the Algonquin and My Mother and The Michigan/Ohio War enjoyed sold-out world premieres at PRTC in 2023 and 2025, respectively.

Other playwriting credits include Last Call at the Aardvark, Cheese Louise and Plane Crazy. Paul’s autobiographical solo show Straight Up with a Twist toured the U.S. for over nine years, culminating in a twice-extended Off-Broadway run. He is currently at work on his next play, The Malibu Acting School of Kalamazoo.

Both A Jukebox for The Algonquin and Last Call at The Aardvark have been adapted into screenplays with collaborator Mike Petty. Paul’s screenplay for the short film “The Beating” was utilized by Columbia College for their curriculum in filmmaking.

As an actor at The Purple Rose, his credits include six plays (see below). Other stage credits include Doll’s House Part 2, Ghosts, Native Gardens, Under Milkwood, A Flea in her Ear and Misery. TV credits include Empire, Chicago P.D., Undercover Bridesmaid, Malcolm in the Middle, and The Untouchables, as well as the films Wake, Gratitude, Cold Justice and The Wrong Profile.

Directing credits include Of Grapes and Nuts, A Jukebox for The Algonquin, A
Christmas Twist and the 25th Anniversary Production of Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding.
