Stephen is an award winning freelance lighting designer for stage, film and television. His work is regularly seen on TV, where he has served as a lighting director for the NBA’s special events and live entertainment, “Global Citizens Live”, and the “NCAA Final Four Concert”. Theatrically, he has been recognized three times with Kennedy Center Certificates of Merit for his lighting designs and in 2020 received the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Lighting Design for the world premiere of All Quiet on the Western Front in Chicago. Stephen is a Professor of Theatre and the Chair of the Department of Theatre & Film at the University of Toledo. Stephen is also a proud member of United Scenic Artists 829.
