DIVA ROYALE

by Jeff Daniels

September 20 – December 29, 2018

Diva Royale is a spectacular farce brought to us by the author of such comedies as Escanaba in da MoonlightThe Tropical Pickle and Norma & Wanda. The play follows the exploits of three midwestern stay-at-home moms who plan a last minute trip to NYC to see their favorite star Celine Dion perform and maybe experience a bit of the romance lacking in their lives. As soon as they get on the plane things go very wrong resulting in an evening of side-splitting hilarity.

NEVER NOT ONCE

by Carey Crim

January 17 – March 16, 2019

Eleanor, a biology major at Rutgers, brings her boyfriend Rob home to meet her two moms. While there, she lets them know that she has hired a private investigator to help her find her biological father. She says, as a scientist, she is curious about her genetics. But it’s evident she might also just want to meet her dad. Nadine, her non-biological mom thinks it’s a great idea. Allison, Eleanor’s biological mom is insisting that Eleanor’s father, a one night stand in college whose name Allison doesn’t remember, never even knew she existed. Eleanor is sent on a journey to an unexpected and explosive answer to the question “Where do I come from?” Winner of the 2017 Jane Chambers Playwriting Award and finalist for the 2018 Eugene O’Neill Award.

“The desire to know one’s origins, to face the violence of one’s past, and to seek redemption are all at play here, and these desires unfurl via intense relationships that come to life in powerful scenes that mostly ring true through largely excellent performances.”
